COBHAM 1 v ISTEAD UTD COLTS WHITE 4
Cobham went into this game unbeaten in 7 games! But Istead Utd was on top form today and ended that run in style.
Straight from the start Istead took charge of this game, and we totally dominated the midfield with our tackling and passing, it was a great pass from midfield that went straight through Cobham’s defence for Jordon to run onto and to open the score, 0-1.
Cobham tried to equalize with some great attacks of there own but man of the match Michael Patterson in defence was strong in every challenge and soon turned any attack into our own.
Istead's 2nd Goal came from four passes from the keeper to the feet of Tommy cook, for him to smash it into the back of the net. 0-2. with a couple of minutes to go Cobham still trying hard to score got there reward from there efforts with a great cross from the left and for the first and only time during this game the defence switched off and the Cobham striker scored 1-2.
Half time.
The second half started with Cobham being the stronger team and kept Istead on the back foot, if it wasn’t for the Istead back four they would have scored a couple more but they were to strong for Cobham.
Istead's 3rd came from some neat passes from midfield again and a great cross for Jordon chase after, and with the Cobham keeper closing him down he very calmly lobed the ball over him from a very tight angle and into the back of the net. 1-3.
Istead wasn’t finished there as they could see that the Cobham’s player’s heads went down, so we kept on attacking the Cobham goal. Our last goal came from Kyle Eastwood with a great run from his own half beating three players with some great trickery, and slotting the ball past the keeper 1-4.
When the game started again there was just 5 minutes to go, so we just kept possession of the ball and in Cobham’s half until the final whistle.
This was a great team effort from the boys. And after the game, one of the dads from Cobham comment to me was, "You were awesome!"

Istead Utd Colts Whites 3 v New Road Colts 2
After last weeks narrow defeat, Istead soon bounced back with style, this weeks opponent was the unbeaten New Road Colts so we new it was going to be a tough game.
Right from the start Istead took charge of this game, with the our midfield keeping possession of the ball New Road hardly got into our half the whole game, and when they did our defence stood firm and put the ball back into there half,
It wasn’t long in the first half with the wave of attacks and some great crosses we got our first goal from a cross from the right a great dummy by Matthew to set up Lewis to shoot with his left 1-0.
We should have scored two or three more in the first half if it wasn’t for the heroics of the New Road keeper!
Then on the rare occasion New Road did get into our half there striker got a bit of luck beating our centre backs and took the ball round our keeper to score, this was totally against the run of play!!
1-1 half time..
The second half was the same as the first with Istead keeping hold of the ball for longer periods, the passing was the best I have seen all season, and it wasn’t long until it paid off with Jordon chasing a long ball over the top off there defence and from a very tight angle he drilled home our second of the match 2-1.
At this point of the game we kept on attacking and new road players were just throwing bodies in the way of all our shots on goal to stop us scoring again.
Istead players were getting a bit frustrated at this point as the ball just wouldn’t go in. but all there efforts soon paid off with a great cross from Matthew from the left and James Rollin was there to nod the ball into the back of the net 3-1. with five minutes to go New Road went on there last attack of the game and with our keeper off his line, there midfielder let fly with a great shot from just outside the penalty box to score!!
The game finished soon after that.. 3-2.

OAK ATHLETIC 4 v ISTEAD UTD COLTS WHITE 3
Last week the boys all had a very good game against Oak, but unfortunately we lost.
In the first half we totally dominated the game and Oak could not get a sniff at our goal, we took an early lead by a lovely link up play by Jordon and Matthew who scored past the diving keeper. We could have scored more in this half if it wasn’t for the Oak keeper stopping all of our shots on goal. It stayed a comfortable 0-1 to Istead until half time.
The second half started the same as the first with Istead keeping possession of the ball until on the rare occasion Oak did get into our half there was a hit and hope shot from distance and keeper Sam misjudged the bounce and the ball went in! 1-1
This was the boost Oak needed and they started to play with more confidence and put us under pressure and soon got there second goal. 2-1
Oaks lead did not last long as we came straight back with some nice passing around the penalty box and with ball landing at the feet of Matthew the ball was soon in the back of the net 2-2.
At this point of the match, tiredness was setting in all the players, and the game was opening up for more goals, it was Oak again who scored the next goal. No one closed there midfielder down quick enough and he had to much time to pick his spot on goal and he scored 3-2.
Again this lead did not last long, straight from the kick off the Istead players put there defence under pressure and earned a corner, and the ball was drilled across the penalty box with James Rollin waiting at the back of the box to blast it through the keeper’s legs 3-3.
This was looking like the game was going to finish a draw but Oak spoilt that by scoring again in the last few minutes of the game!! 4-3. every single player gave there all in this match, and was beaten by luck!!!
I was very proud of every single player as they tried there best in this game and this was in my opinion the best they have played in a long time.

Istead Utd Colts White 3 v Oak Athletic 2
This was a very entertaining game from start to finish, with a midday kick off the boys from both teams done well just to stand on the pitch in the heat let alone run with the ball!.
It was Oak who opened the scoring was some neat passing from midfield who then put the ball into the path of the oak striker and he couldn’t miss 0-1.
Istead had a hatful of chances in the first half but was denied but the post the upright and the oak keeper, who had an excellent game. It remained 0-1 to Oak at half time.
The second half saw Istead start to get there passing game together and continued to attack oaks goal.
Istead was awarded a free kick from 2 metres outside the box, which Sam Spinks took and scored by curling the ball into the top corner 1-1.
Now Oak was struggling to keep Istead out of there own half and it wasn’t long until Istead scored there second by Tommy cook who powered past three players and slotted the ball past the keeper. 2-1.
Oak managed to counter attack a couple of times in the second half and made Istead pay with a great shot that beat the keeper on his near post and the Istead defence just couldn’t keep it from going in on the line. 2-2. with just five minutes to go Istead manage to get four corners in a row and on the forth corner, the ball was converted into the back of the net by Istead’s Matthew Holloway 3-2.
This was a great game by both sets of players on a very hot day!!!
Well done boys.
