Istead Colts Blues 6 v Real Gima u12 0
Back into winning ways this week with a great performance from all, Real Gima 12's who have upped their game and drew 5-5 with Dartford recently, Slow starting again but once the 1st had gone in the net care of Callum we were off, great passing and moving which we have been working on recently seems to be working well and not long before we out classed our opponents.
Good to see our corners were reaching targets this week, Jamie D supplying these which gave us goal 2 from Jamie E to lead us into half time.
Second Half see a quick change around to bring on David with an injured toe to see how it held up, again some great passing around the pitch and No3 came from Josh M and soon followed by No4 again from Josh M.
No real threats from Gima and they were clearly missing their key striker who wasn't playing and any breaks were mostly stopped in there tracks, the odd corner they received was quickly dealt with and sent back up the pitch away from danger and to our midfielders to move on up the field.
Goal 5 from Callum and No 6 from Josh S to make the final score 6-0.

Istead Colts Blues 7 v Swanscombe Tigers 4
If we were gambling people, I'm sure we wouldn't have bet on this weekends result!!!!!! Awesome football from everyone and beating Swanscombe Tigers with just 9 boys available was incredible.
A well deserved win as well, all 9 of the boys proved their fitness and stamina levels are first class.
In bright warm sunshine we battled and didn't stop running til the end. conceding the first goal around 5 mins in I thought this wasn't going to be nice!, but the equaliser came, and then our second closely followed by our third and Swanscombe must have wondered what was going on!!.
Starting off playing 2 rows of 4 it became clear that our back 4 was solid and going 2 goals ahead I decided to change the format and push Jamie E forward to give us more attacking oppotunities. This had soon paid off as he was on the score sheet with goals 4 & 5 to take us into half time 5-1 ahead.
With the promise of chocolate bars for everyone from Dom for next week how could the boys back down at such an offer!!!!!! Off into the next 35 mins and 2 more goals in this half, but the boys were starting to feel the pressure and exhaustion as Swanscombe came back with a couple of quick goals, time to bring Jamie back and defend our lead.
Will took a knock to his ankle and was looking like he was ready to drop on the floor so a quick change into the keepers shirt, and fresh legs from Callum who had played an awesome spell in goal got his chance to run around. The game finished with the score line 7-4 which means we're through to the final on May 22nd against Dartford, fingers crossed!!!!
Goals from Hugh B-4, Jamie E-2 and one OG from Swanscombes defender.
Some great comments on our performance from the players, manager and parents of Swanscombe was very nice to hear, and as we'll all agree very justified from the way the boys played the game.

League Double Header
Istead Colts Blues 2 v Longfield Tigers 0
Longfield Tigers 1 v Istead Colts Blues 2
Another fantastic performance this weekend and the right result achieved, the whole team pulling together and working well was great to see, and our fitness paid off as you all played 80 mins of good football.
Both games see us as the controlling team, anything that got towards our back 4 was soon taken care of and sent back towards Longfields half, At the break we were 1-0 up after an inform Callum luchford-Hewett goal.
Second half we were again the stronger side, neat passing of the ball and excellent energy levels from you all, non stop runs going uphill towards Longfields goal and a second in this half from Hugh made the final score 2-0.
Game 2 and the first goal was from the spot after an obvious hand ball, perfectly executed by Callum. longfield sort and gained an equaliser and put the pressure back on us, but it wasn't long before the second came, Josh Silk making his way around 3 or 4 players before his shot was at the back of the net.
Second half of this game seemed to frustrate longfield as every chance they thought they were on a run they were stopped in their tracks, We finished up with a 2-1 victory.
Having taken 6 points from this game, and Swanscombe drawing with Gima 13's, it has made it a dead cert that we are going to finish no lower than league runners up this season, and still in good shape to become league champions! lets hope!!!

League Double Header
Istead Colts Blues 2 v Swanscombe Tigers 0
Swanscombe Tigers 1 v Istead Colts Blues 2
Fantastic double header last weekend seeing both the results going our way and netting another 6 points in the league, Two great performances from the team in each game and especially from Tom in goal, some excellent saves which kept the score in our advantage, First game was 2-0 with both goals coming from Hugh, and an great save from Swanscombes keeper who chose the right way to dive and deny us a 3rd goal from the spot.
Game two finished 2-1, Swanscombe played a tighter game and they also failed to score from the spot to equalise the score, goals in this game from Hugh and Jamie Eves.

Real Gima u12 2 v Istead Colts Blues 7
Another fantastic result last weekend, Real Gima u12's who in my opinion have improved greatly and were playing some good football, From the kick off the game was fairly even with Istead having just slightly more of the possession, end to end action with both keepers having early touches of the ball from some good saves, in particular their number 12 was there player to watch, such a great pace on him caused us trouble at times and having to play catch up.
Istead got on the score sheet first with Hugh drilling the ball to the keepers right and just out of his reach, this followed 2 goals from Gima as we were caught out of shape and a defensive error allowed a break from Gima and leaving us having to catch up. after a rough 5 mins and a change around we settled down and started playing the better football, passing the ball around the floor and gaining control and it wasn't too long before this paid off, Josh Mercer slotted one in before Jamie dray got 3 and 4.
Half time and 4-2 see us comfortable but playing up the incline on the second half.
Change around time and "solid hands Hugh" taking the keepers shirt for the next 35 minutes per the start of the first half it was end to end, but we had the better of the game, Hugh pulled of 3 fantastic saves this half one great piece of keeping from a corner, David Constant had a great game being very strong in midfield which earnt him the man of the match, goals 5 and 6 came from Jamie Eves and goal 7 see Jamie Dray get his hat trick, great play from James T in the second half playing forward and having a good run out, just the bare 11 for the second half and what a performance with everyone worthy of a mention as it was fantastic team work! even Gima's manager commented on how well we play as a team.

Istead Colts Blues 2-1 Dartford YMCA
Off to a great start in 2011 with our first game against dartford YMCA, and by starting a week earlier than anticipated it didn't give us much time to get our match fitness back up to full strength, But we got by, puffing and panting against the tough opposition from Dartford, It really was a great game to which both sides could have been worthy of the win, or even a draw would have been justified.
Both Dartford and Istead played some great football with loads of 'end to end' and midfield action, the first half we played towards the school end with the sun in our eyes which made it quite a challenge, the few chances we had were unfortunately just too high or not strong enough to put past Dartfords large keeper, until finally Hugh slotted one home. Both ends had a few mad scrambles in the goal mouth and Hugh proving to have a great game was on hand to clear the ball off the line, going into half time we had the advantage of being 1-0 up and no sun for the remainder of the game.
Dartford started more positively in the second half and changed their team around to bring the large keeper back to an attacking position which he normally plays, and this seemed to work for them as they leveled the scores, and had more attacks at our goal, fortunately the luck was on our side and several shots were off target,
As per the first half a great even game off football where both sides had their chances and both ends having shots cleared off the line, with around 12 mins left you still couldn't predict the outcome and then we had a great break starting from the middle of the field and put through to the right for Hugh to finish it off, 2-1, Again the last ten minutes were nail bitting moments with Dartford pushing very hard for the equaliser.
Fantastic game by both sides finishing 2-1 to Istead, well done to all the players, great performance!, and Man Of The Match for Hugh.

Istead Colts Blues 7-2 Real Gima u13
Sunday was another win under our belt in the Round robin cup, Real Gima under 13's for the second week in a row, Both teams started off well with plenty of mid field battling although I thought Gima would have sought revenge a little harder after last weeks score line.
Istead captained by Andrew Davison this week settled down fairly quickly and played a much better passing game of football, which proved to be much to our advantage as our confidence grew and grew and soon we had the upper hand, and the better possession, Several shots at goal which were unfortunately stopped by Gima's keeper and a few attempts going too wide or high helped the boys to see they were on top, Jamie Dray put the first goal in and shortly followed by David Constant and Jamie's second, Several unfortunate misses from Darcy and Hugh, and a cracking shot from Josh Mercer which just got tipped over the crossbar which should have made it 4 or 5 goals.
Real Gima had a few breaks but most were held back from Jay, Ryan, James and Andrew in our back four and a couple of saves from Thomas our Banana looking goalkeeper!, Half time 3-0.
The half time talk proved to work for Real Gima as they came out looking stronger and they got of to a flying start and getting them on the score sheet, But our persistence continued and Jamie D got his hat trick by getting a touch of the ball and putting it in the near corner which looked like it was going to go in the far corner from David's shot.
We controlled most of the second half although Gima did cause us some trouble at times and they also got their second goal, But we weren't settling for 4 goals, Some great midfield battling from Jamie E, Josh S before Andrew had a great run down the left from our own half and finished it very well, Around 10 mins left Jamie D got his 4th before being put back in defence and letting Jay James have a run forward which paid off in minutes as he got the 7th to make the final score 7-2.

Real Gima u13 5-11 Istead Colts Blues
This was the Blues first encounter with an under 13 team. It was a wet and rainy so the Blues struggled from the start to play their normal good passing game. They also lost out on most of the 50/50 balls giving the bigger opposition too much respect. The Blues still had the edge skill-wise and all this resulted in an even first half which ended 2-2 with the Blues goals coming from Hugh Bryant and Jamie Dray. In addition the Blues missed a couple of easy chances but Thomas Darby in the Blues goal was the busier of the two keepers but made some excellent saves and the Gima goals resulted from scrambles in the box that he could do nothing about.
Then came the second half and a further 12 goals!!! It was Gima, who continued to play well, that went 3-2 up and the Blues supporters on the sideline thought this was not going to be their day. Then the Blues players started to play and although the conditions were bad produced some great football and excellent finishing. As a result 15 minutes later they had gone from 3-2 down to 9-3 up! For the last 10 minutes some of the Blues players got a bit greedy, hogging the ball and pushing too far up to get their name on the score sheet. This produced 2 more goals for the Blues but also enabling Gima to outnumber them on the counter attack at get 2 more of their own.
It is very hard to put into words how well the whole Team played but right from the off they were in control, Mathew Balmer opened the scoring early on and then another superb free kick from Ryan Burridge had us two up. The whole team were playing with confidence and battling for everything but going into half time somehow Anchorians had a 3-2 lead, Two of there goals were route one straight down the middle and caught us napping.
Despite conceding 5 goals, Thomas Darby was the clear Star player for the Blues. None of the goals conceded were his fault and if he hadn't made his good saves when we were 3-2 down I believe this game would have been lost.
